I chose to follow tradition rather than depart from it as I did last year. Each of the 31 anniversary years is represented by a flamingo, forming an entire flock carrying easels, cameras, and musical instruments overhead. Atmospheric perspective and lighting help soften the complexity of the composition. I also borrowed the concept of positive and negative space from an Artworks poster, extending the background into the typography to lend the type its color—creating the illusion of a single, unified illustration rather than the traditional division between text and image on t-shirts.
