I would first like to mention how honored I am to be exhibiting at the Fifth Avenue Art Gallery. The members include sixteen incredible artists whose mastery spans sculpture, acrylic, encaustic, collage, and other media. My own work will hang for a month, a prize awarded from the 2017 100% Pure Florida show.

The show’s title, Preoccupation, is a word within a word, representing concepts that reverse or reflect one another: occupation and preoccupation. Occupational preoccupation may involve the process, the setting, the objective, or even the terminology. When we become preoccupied with what we do, our occupation shifts from the execution of a task to the ways it actively shapes our thinking and perception.

Each piece in this exhibition is presented with the hope that it offers both a moment of humor and an invitation to reflection.
